Deadly Crocodile

Hello friends good to see you here, hope all of you are doing good and enjoying the weekend. In past blogs, we experienced the beauty of forests and its citizens I mean unique birds/animals so let me bring a new flavor that is an aquatic reptile when you say reptile the first name has to be Crocodile because it is amongst largest and strongest aquatic reptile. The general belief is that Crocodile, Gharials, and Alligators all are same with a different name but it is not the same. You will be surprised to know that these are different species but habitat is almost similar with many similarities in looks as well. To give you clarity let me share my experience of various visits along with some unique facts.

In forest Crocodile are mostly found sleeping or basking near Lakes/River but the experience of Crocodile in water land sanctuary (Chambal River and Ranganathittu bird sanctuary) is more memorable but fearful at the same time then the forest because you are in middle of the River/Lake (Crocodile’s home ground) with hundred of Croco waiting to welcome you.

We wanted to experience River area and it's habitats so we decided to take a tour of a River here we saw Crocodiles and Gharials enjoying a swim near our boat giving us the opportunity to capture them closely. You will say isn’t it scary, my answer is no it is not because we keep distance, if you keep reasonable distance from species you will be safe. You need to respect and understand the nature, till the time you don’t disturb them, they will not attack rather they will give you opportunities to get best out of the it.

We realize the difference between Crocodiles and Gharials when we saw both together at Chambal River. We saw them in different style such as basking near a lake or swimming through the lake or sitting idle with closed eyes (must be waiting for pray) giving us super clicks. Till date, we are yet to see Crocodile in action for the hunt which is extremely rare sighting but not impossible, hope we will be lucky in our upcoming trips. So now its time to know the facts to understand the nature of most dangerous aquatic reptile.
